What happens during each Riftwar? From: Raymond E. Feist I don't want to spoil surprises, but the short version goes like this. 1st Riftwar, you read about. 2nd Riftwar, the Tsurani come to the Kingdom for help, because they're invaded by some. . .thing they can't handle alone. 3rd Riftwar, a very nasty set of . . . creatures, pop in to wreak havoc with Midkemia. 4th Riftwar and last Riftwar I will not speak of yet. > From: Raymond E. Feist No more stories set exclusively on Kelewan, ala the Empire Trilogy. The second Riftwar does entail some action on Kelewan, as it's used as a "highway" by a super empire that's out conquering planets and is heading toward the Kingdom and Empire of Great Kesh. In that one the two powers work closely together, with some unexpected problems as a result. From: Raymond E. Feist OK, let me clear this up. The Serpentwar was the 2nd Riftwar. I talked about the 2nd Riftwar (which was really the 3rd) as a marketing issue, thinking that "Riftwar II" on a book series would help. It won't). Anyway, Riftwar III will be called The Shadow War Saga. From: Raymond E. Feist Conclave of Shadows _may_ segue into the Third Riftwar or contain it, I don't know until I get there. The third Riftwar is very nasty, very destructive to the Tsurani homeworld and will probably take at least one book of it's own, though as I said, I don't know how it will play in Conclave until I get there. The forth Riftwar is very short and nasty. It's a real "fire drill" war and taxes the resources of the Conclave, the Kingdom and the Empire of Great Kesh and changes forever how Stardock is regarded by the Kingdom and the Empire. The fifth Riftwar is the last one, and it's the shortest, and the nastiest, changing the face of Midkemia and marks the end of an era. The Great Cataclysm marks the boundary between "old history" and "game era" history. In our game, the riftwars are things of legend, and only 1 person in a hundred even knows about them.
