I've never asked, actually. I suspect, given what I've posited about the Congress of Lords, that a deal could be brokered to put a girl on the throne instead of a boy. Part of a deal could be to marry her off to the right Duke to start a new dynasty or something.

I have a story WAY down the line where that might prove an interesting plot device.
