We've had our share of really weird drugs in Midkemia. Nurgum springs to mind. I don't want to screw up the explanation, but if I remember rightly, it's a drug that's only addictive to magic users, and is used to keep them under control in certain parts of the world (LaMUT!). You know how hard it is to keep those pesky magicians in line.

I've also mentioned two in passing, which are both hallucinogenic and adictive. The first is a controlled dream trip, with time dilation, so you can "live" a month in your dream world in one night's sleep. The second is a hot button to the pleasure center.

Neither is conducive to a early morning "let's get at 'em" work ethic, so they tend to be short addictions.
