Well, as printing doesn't exist in Midkemia, very few books are in Midkemian homes. Only the very wealthy can afford to have books fabricated, as they all have to be hand copies, and then only the well to do can afford to buy them. A book like the infamous biography of Rupert Avery would maybe have a hundred or two hundred copies max.
