Why the character list at the front of Shadow of a Dark Queen

From: Raymond E. Feist

Editorial. I included a "cast list" in every book I've written, for the
use of the copy editor and proof readers during production. For reasons I do not yet know, the list was incorporated into Shadow. As it is in the first one, they insist on it througout. I hate it. Tells too much about what is going to happen and I have to do extra work. smiley

The character list was an artifact of my editor at Morrow taking the list I had prepared for my copy editor and deciding to include it in Shadow. I was not asked. So I had to put up with it for four novels.
