Why is it called the Riftwar/Serpentwar "Saga?"

Actually, "Saga" was my idea, and my publisher embraced it. I was thinking of James Fenemore Cooper's "Letherstockings Saga," [Deerslayer, Last of the Mohecans, Pathfinder, Pilot, and Prairie.]. Originally we didn't know how many books that would be, either, and my editor wanted something like "Chronicles," but as Steve Donaldson was using it on his series, something else. Mostly it's a marketing tool. The "Riftwar Saga," is actually two tales intertwine, the Riftwar and the Great Uprising.
