Why didn't the Kingdom employ the Assembly of Magicians to slow the Serpent Queen?

Always remember you, the reader, have the advantage over the characters, for the most part.  You see lots of things only a few characters see.  To 99% of the denizens of the Kingdom, there's this big invasion coming, and no one knows why.

The Powers-That-Be aren't too anxious that anyone knows what's going on under Sethanon.

Additionally, we dealt a little with the issue of what the Assembly's attitude toward the Sethanon situation was in the game, Betrayal at Krondor.  The Kingdom's isn't exactly interested in having hundres of Tsurani magicians running around there.
